Why CSV Import Requires a SASS Key (Not an API Key)

At Scaleflex, we’re committed to offering powerful tools while keeping your assets secure and your operations transparent.

What’s the difference between a SASS key and an API key?

  • API Key: Typically used for automation and integrations. It does not identify a specific user.
  • SASS Key: A user-specific authentication token used when interacting with our SaaS interface or CLI tools. It uniquely identifies who is performing an action.

CSV Import with API Key – Not Allowed

To ensure security and accountability, CSV imports cannot be performed using an API key.

This restriction is in place to:

  • Track user activity (for audit and forensic purposes)
  • Ensure accountability for large-scale changes, like bulk asset uploads
  • Prevent misuse by anonymous or shared API access

Instead, you must use a SASS key, which is linked to a specific user account. This helps us ensure that every asset upload is traceable to the person who performed it.
