Why do my images appear with inverted or incorrect colours with Cloudimage/DMO?

Sometimes, Cloudimage-processed images display inverted or unexpected colors, even though the original image appears fine. This usually happens when the original image contains an uncommon or unrecognized ICC (International Color Consortium) profile that our system cannot interpret correctly.

Why ICC profiles matter

  • An ICC (International Color Consortium) profile is a small data file embedded in an image that defines how colors should be displayed on devices such as monitors, printers, and cameras. It ensures color consistency across devices.
  • There’s no fixed number of ICC profiles — they can be custom-made for each device or color need, so the variety is huge and constantly growing.
  • If our system doesn’t recognize an ICC profile, colors may be misinterpreted, causing issues such as inversion, desaturation, or strange color shifts.
    Example:
    Origin: https://example.com/path/to/image.jpg
    Cloudimage: https://token.cloudimg.io/v7/https://example.com/path/to/image.jpg (shows inverted colors)

How to Get It Fixed

  1. Contact our support team with the origin and Cloudimage/DMO URLs of the affected image.

  2. Our team will check the ICC profile embedded in your image.

  3. If the profile is not recognized, our developers will update the resizing server configuration to support it.

  4. We will invalidate the cached image so the fixed version is displayed immediately.

  5. To prevent this issue in the future, save images with standard ICC profiles, which are widely supported.
